TASTAR DE CORDE: 100 YEARS OF THE ITALIAN LUTE FANTASIA

Jacob Heringman (lute)

2.00pm, Sunday 7 August, 2011

An early-afternoon recital of freely composed Italian music for solo Renaissance lute, encompassing recercars, preludes, toccatas, tastars de corde and fantasias, from the wonderfully fertile period 1500-1600 which produced so many great lute composers including Capirola, L'Aquila, Da Ripa, Francesco da Milano, Fiorentino, Dentice, Molinaro, Dalza and Terzi. A tempting array of rich and varied delights. "Exquisitely lyrical and expressive playing" (Early Music Review)
