Cambridge Early Music Concerts 2011

HANDEL'S VIOLIN SONATAS

Adrian Butterfield (violin) and Laurence Cummings (harpsichord)

3.30pm, Sunday 2 October, 2011

Adrian Butterfield and Laurence Cummings are co-directors of the London Handel Orchestra and Players as well as being hugely admired and highly sought-after as soloists and directors. Their recital of Handel's exquisite violin sonatas will include the three whose manuscripts are held in the Fitzwilliam Museum, and which will be on display in Gallery 3 throughout the Festival weekend.
'The sweetness of [Butterfield's] tone, aptness of tempi and the lightness with which he wears his virtuosity perfectly complement the music.' (Gramophone)
Adrian Butterfield will give a pre-concert talk about the music which he will be performing during the concert, with particular reference to the manuscripts held by the Fitzwilliam Museum.  More  »
